Can't hurt to try
A large number of people seem interested in "making money on the Internet" sites, and free sites . Since I am certainly no expert on the subject, I am running an experiment. I had signed up for a few free ISPs and pay to surf places, but I'm now signing up for many others. I'll keep records, and post my experience with each company.
Paying cash, orgiving some return (such as a free service) seems to be the latest online fad. I hope it lasts, as it shows an increasing tendency of companies to listen to their potential clients. Many of us have been telling these companies for years that if they want us to read their advertisements, and want us to give opinions, and in other ways want us to use up our time for their benefit, we want to some return for it. I don't watch commercials for entertainment (except possibly the yearly awards show) and I doubt many people do.
Among the first ones to jump on the bandwagon were the "free" ISPs. Although you didn't make money, you could save it, in return for watching their ads. The next ones were the opt-in mail groups, these are ones I very much want to encourage, as they may eventually manage to reduce spam. Most reputable companies would much rather have targeted email, with some interest shown among the targeted. If the target is interested, they are much more likely to investigate, and maybe even sign up or buy.The survey companies want opinions, and many are willing to pay. Pollsters may have started before the ISPs but I found them later - they've been paying for opinions for years, so this is nothing really new to them.
What I'm doing:
I'll be listing mostly places I have signed up with and used. In some cases, especially with the free ISPs, and pay-to surf, I like them but I have an older computer, and they crash my system. I'm listing these anyway because that is my problem, and many people can use them. For the pay sites, in most cases, I've not yet been paid, having not yet reached the minimum check amount. I'll let you know if and when I'm paid, and mark anyone who doesn't pay as a don't join recommendation! Meanwhile, I'd love to hear from any who have joined any of the companies on my lists and have (or have not) been paid. I will also list some that I find interesting, but cannot use for various reasons, and I'd greatly appreciate feedback on those.
Many of these give commissions for others that sign up through you (referrals), so anyone who signs up for any of them, please let me know! I'm trying to track how good they are at keeping up with who signs up from a given site. I'd hate to have thousands of people signing up from this site (I can always hope), and me getting credit for only two or three! And I will post it if I have emails from people saying they signed from here, and it doesn't show up. There are a number of survey companies that are offering "a chance to win" in return for polls. I'm ignoring those, they don't actually pay anyone except the winners, you could work for them for years and never make a dime.
I'm also experimenting with a few click-throughs, pay-per lead, and commision programs on other parts of the site (also text only). These are places I like, and would have recommended anyway, then found out they'd pay me for doing it. They'll be listed under website moneymakers. A lot of the ones I've seen, are too expensive, or way over-hyped, for what they offer. The ones I'm listing are those that offer something I see as a good deal. I'm restricting, also, to those who offer text links.
I'll be keeping my lists to 10 per page, and they will be in the order in which I signed up or investigated, at least to start. Links to the other pages (if any) in the same category will be at the bottom of the first page.
General advice: don't spam people to get affiliates, and don't cheat - they will both get you banned. On the free services and sites, do click on ads if you see something you like, or check out the shopping site, fill in surveys or whatever. We do want to encourage this kind of behavior, rather than spam and rude web pages!
