General Policies

  • We do not discriminate on the basis of the race, religion, national origin, gender, or lifestyles. We realize that the people of the world are a diverse group, and we relish that diversity. We may be limited due to Canadian law, where our server is based, or by laws in the countries we are based in, US and Thailand.
  • We will not censor or remove pages because they express opinions that someone else may not like or approve of. Even if that someone else is us.
  • As long as clients abide by our rules and pay their bills on time, they are welcome here.
  • We advertise our web page clients' pages on our links page, unless otherwise requested. Clients with their own domains are advertised only at their request.
  • We do not sell clients' information. Ever. You will not get on any mailing lists or spam lists through any action of ours. We may be required to release information to authorities if the client has been engaged in illegal activities. See our Privacy Policy for more details.
  • We will always do our best to work things out with our clients in cases of disagreement which are not covered by our policies. If things cannot be worked out privately, the use of a negotiator, ombudsman, or similar person will be attempted before legal action (this is an agreement for both sides!).
  • A server client who cancels his account with 30 days notice will be refunded advance money paid. The percentage of money refunded will be calculated by months unused divided by months paid. If no notice is given, money will be refunded, less 1 month. Those who are removed due to breaking rules will be refunded any prepaid money on the same basis, except that the refund will be held for 60 days to insure they have not caused us any monetary damages by their activities. If they have, they will be refunded any money left after the damages have been repaid, or billed for any damages over that amount. A client cancelling any independent work agrees to take te case to an independent mediator if there are any disagreements that cannot be negotiated between the client and our companies.
  • We do not charge extra per hit/bytes downloaded from our server, except in unusual circumstances. If a page or set of pages has enough hits to slow down our server significantly, we reserve the right to add extra per-hit charges so that we can buy another line (or server), or remove those pages from our server. There are several sorts of sites that have a magnitude we do not wish to handle, including adult sites, search engines, 'ad servers' and a few others.. We will notify you before adding charges, if this is becoming a problem.
  • Server load. We like to have popular sites on the server, but there are at least 2 kinds of sites this server cannot handle. One is web-wide search engines (though we are happy to set you up so that people can search your individual site). We also cannot put up adult sites on our server, both for legal and bandwidth reasons. Because of the huge number of hits that these pages get, our server would be overloaded. We are, however, quite willing to write these pages, and try to find you a server that can and will handle that kind of load. We do support free speech - we don't support overloading our server (sorry!).

Rules & Regulations

We make the assumption that all our clients are honest and of good intent, but we realize that assumptions are sometimes in error, and also that some people simply are not aware of the rules.

We enforce only "rules" that the law and internet etiquette demand of us (etiquette quite explicitly includes 'spamming'). Any violations of these rules and regulations will cause us to remove your account immediately, and if it causes us any damage or expense, may also result in a lawsuit against you for recovery of those damages.

  • We must, by law, report any criminal activity that we know about. Copyright violations, in particular, are very common on the net. We will not allow illegal "pirated" software in your directories for people to download. Freeware and shareware are not a problem, as long as you follow their rules. This also applies to any other copyright violations. You may, for instance, put up small excerpts from a copyrighted article for review or advertising purposes, but you may not put up the entire article without prior permission from the author - and we must see a copy of that permission.
  • Other criminal activities are, of course, also forbidden and reportable. These include, but are not limited to: running a scam, libel, and threats of violence. The US (where our server resides) has put in laws against 'hate crimes', so we also will not host sites that encourage hate/violence toward any particular group, whether or not there is any other illegal content involved in the site.
  • Trying to hack into our machines is forbidden. This includes attempts to get root login, to upload and run software designed to "crash" the server, to try to get into or change the other user's files or ours, and any other script-kiddie or hacker activities.
  • We realize that this is not illegal, but it is very impolite, and likely to cause us problems. Do not "spam", or flood the Usenet with a single post to a large number of news groups, or post even one off topic message in a newsgroup to advertise your page. If we find out about it, your account will be immediately removed. We also will not be a party to e-mail spamming (online junk mail). Since many people still have to pay for each e-mail they receive, we consider it the ethical equivalent of a telemarketer who makes collect calls. For the legal minds among you, our definition of spam is as follows, in plain English. If you send e-mail to someone who has not specifically opted in (asked for, signed an agreement, etc.) to that mail, we count it as spam. If you post ads in newsgroups whose charters do not allow it, that is also spam. You may advertise in opt-in newsletters, post ads to places that solicit them and so forth.
  • We simply ask that our clients abide by the law (US law, since that is where we are based) and show common sense and common courtesy toward others.
  • These policies may be updated at any time, due to changes in the law or new scams/problems that might come to our attention. It is your responsibility to check this page periodically.
